The Tythe Barn (Launton)

The Tythe Barn in Launton provided many challenges when Will Deeley approached Overture a few years ago to ask for advice in providing a background music solution for the 14th century thatched barn.

It is a thriving venue for weddings and conferences now and as such requires a public address system to broadcast the civil wedding ceremonies (inside and outside the buildings) and a quality background music system to fill the huge space.  The system eventually settled upon used a combination of Bose loudspeakers and Cloud electronics with eight speakers covering the main barn and four environmental loudspeakers in the outside areas.

During a further upgrade to the system in 2008, a high performance large scale foreground public address system was added which could be used by the bands and discos that provide the entertainment for the weddings etc.  This incredibly discreet system gives The Tythe Barn staff complete control over the volume levels- a very important issue in a thatched barn which is basically on the edge of a busy village (noise levels have been a problem in the past).  The speaker system is again from Bose using the classic 802 speakers with MB4 bass bins- amplification provided by MC2 manufactured in Devon.

Additional speakers were installed in the grounds of the barn in 2009 to provide ambient sound and music around the car parking areas- the speakers were sunk into the ground to produce 360 degrees of sound covering a wide area.

The system at the Tythe Barn in Launton has developed over the years into an incredibly flexible system which can meet the needs of a demanding client base in what is a very traditional setting.
